Mayor Adams is once again cutting public schools, pre-K for 3-year-olds, CUNY — so many of the services and programs that our children, students and families rely on, from birth through higher education. These harmful cuts most deeply impact low-income New Yorkers of color who rely on the City’s public social safety net, schools, and institutions.
Mayor Adams’s cuts and their impacts include:
- $567M cut from 3-K early education and childcare services (making it hard for poor and working class parents to find affordable childcare for their children)
- $1B cut from public K-12 education (slashing support for vulnerable students & degrading the public education system)
- $61.5M cut from CUNY (making it difficult for struggling students to stay in college & degrading CUNY’s public education system)
We have only one week to stop these cuts from making it into the final budget. Take action today and contact the mayor and your council member to demand that they pass a budget that protects New Yorkers, from child care to CUNY.
