ALBANY, N.Y. (August 3, 2021) — In response to Attorney General Letitia James’ report and the findings of her investigation into New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s pattern of sexual harassment, public education advocacy organization Alliance for Quality Education released the following statement:
“We stand with every woman who has courageously spoken out to tell her story. Thank you to Attorney General Letitia James for hearing them, taking them seriously, and following through with a thorough and detailed investigation. The truth matters,” said Zakiyah Ansari, Advocacy Director, Alliance for Quality Education.
“Andrew Cuomo’s pattern of sexual harassment, intimidation, retaliation and bullying is a clear violation of federal and state law. We cannot allow his abuse of power to continue, and we call on him to resign.
“This did not happen in isolation. We are an organization of nine women, and we are all too familiar with the toxic culture of the New York State Capitol. That environment is the same one that nurtured Andrew Cuomo into a ruthless politician, and it will still be there tomorrow when he is gone. We need accountability in Albany, and that starts with the Governor.
“It is time for Andrew Cuomo to resign. Should he refuse, we call on the New York State Legislature to take action immediately, and convene an emergency session to impeach him.”
